The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities. This includes a variable emblem system, typography, color palette, imagery, patterns, environments and more—elements that work together to create a distinctive and memorable brand experience.  Beyond developing and managing the visual brand, the team also leads key Games design initiatives, including brand venue application, podiums, and cauldron. Additionally, they provide internal creative services to support the broader organization, bringing the spirit of LA28 to life through thoughtful and strategic design.   The Brand Design team is looking for a versatile and detail-oriented Associate Architectural Designer reporting to Sr Manager, 3D Environmental Design, to support a wide range of creative needs across the organization. While contributing to key Games deliverables, this role will primarily focus on applying the brand to venues, events, activations and industrial design projects, ensuring brand consistency and excellence across all touchpoints.  The ideal candidate is a multi-skilled environmental designer, capable of working across a variety of mediums, including sketches, mood boards, Conceptual Design, 3D modeling, rendering, mock-ups, and more. They should bring thoughtful, professional design skills, along with strong organization, time management, and communication abilities.  This role requires someone who is comfortable managing their own workload, prioritizing projects as they come in, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, on-brand design solutions  The Associate Architectural Designer will report to and work closely with our Sr. Manager of Brand Design and collaborate with the larger Brand Design team, key partners throughout the Marketing team, the Look and Signage Team, and across the organization.   Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with internal teams on project concepts  Determine style and brand interpretation for environmental design elements and spaces  Research related past games, sporting events, fashion and art  Develop sketches, mood boards, conceptual designs, 3D models (Rhino), Renderings (Vray), and mock-ups   Advise on best practices and optimizations throughout design projects  Present designs to stakeholders and applicable teams   Implement feedback and changes when appropriate  QA designs for errors   Work alongside Look and Signage Team and/or pass final design to Look and Signage Team for release Take part in the exploration and production of digital and physical brand artifacts and materials  Pull together elements that bring ideas and presentations to life: helping to prepare materials, presentations, mood boards, layouts, and content Collaborate with internal teams on art direction and research to iterating and production  Convey ideas, concepts, and thinking with clarity   Actively inspire and contribute to our brand culture    Background & Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of in-house studio or agency experience Strong design portfolio with well-presented current work that showcases your understanding of spatial design Strong proficiency in Rhino, Vray, Adobe Creative Suite and an interest in up-and-coming design tools (outside of AI) Experience in taking a project through typical design phases including research, ideation, concept, approval, and final production Has a firm understanding of the city, culture and history of Los Angeles Position Requirements: Expectations: Strong conceptual design experience and example work Strong architectural/environmental/experiential design experience and example work  Unique examples of conceptual thinking in storytelling, sketching, modeling, and design  Demonstrated ability to integrate design elements into a larger idea Experience in temporary pop-up, event, activation, and installation design a plus Experience in Large Venue or Sporting Event design experience a plus  Ability to work collaboratively and independently with equal strength  Exceptional creativity and innovation   Time management, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail  File and asset management   Physical Requirements and Working Conditions  Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA  The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment  Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, environmental design, spatial experience design, industrial design or a related field   Submission Requirements: Resume A portfolio submission is required   The annual base salary range for this position is $69,000.00 - $75,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
