What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
The City of Groveland, known as “The City of Natural Charm and Unlimited Possibilities,” is one of the fastest-growing cities in Florida. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the operation and maintenance of our water and wastewater treatment facilities.
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems and equipment essential to the treatment process, including pumps, motors, VFD’s, valves, piping, blowers, and chemical feed systems. You’ll also assist with troubleshooting issues at lift stations, remote pump stations, and other infrastructure critical to water quality and environmental protection. Key responsibilities include:: Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including pumps, motors, valves, blowers, and chemical feed equipment.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical components such as control panels, motor starters, relays, sensors, and wiring associated with treatment plant operations.
Maintain and calibrate instrumentation and automation systems used in water and wastewater processes.
Assist with installation and commissioning of new mechanical and electrical equipment.
Support emergency repairs and respond to equipment failures to minimize downtime.
Maintain and repair piping systems, hydraulic components, and rotating equipment to ensure efficient plant operations.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage in the CMMS software.
Collaborate with operators and other team members to support continuous plant operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or replacements as needed.
Assists with the maintenance of the inventory control program for the project.
Performs housekeeping duties in the maintenance department and on maintenance vehicles.
Performs all work in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
Performs all work to produce an end result which meets all goals and objectives.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6am- 2:30pm. Flexibility and extended shifts to meet the seasonal demands of the water and wastewater system. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Availability for standby duty working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Availability for standby duty and the ability to be “on-call,” working evenings, weekends and holidays may be required.
What will you need to succeed? : High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance.
Experience in the maintenance of reclaimed water transmission and distribution facilities, tractor backhoe, farm-type tractors, farm implements, front-end loader, motor grader, and landscape maintenance equipment.
Requires good reading, math, writing, and verbal communication skills; a good scientific and mechanical aptitude; and the ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, and other equipment.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees.
Must possess a FL valid driver's license, and have a safe driving record.
Must be willing to work schedules which may include weekend or holiday duty, carry a company provided radio, and be willing to respond to emergencies at any time.
Must have a home telephone.
