Position Overview This student internship offers an immersive experience in oncology clinical trials, working directly with our Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) and under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Clinical Research Student Intern will support comprehensive care efforts for patients on clinical trials while gaining foundational oncology knowledge and practical research coordination skills. Key Responsibilities Complete required clinical trials training within four weeks of hire and participate in ongoing education Assist CRCs in screening patients for clinical trial eligibility through detailed chart reviews Learn and support the informed consent process Gain understanding of protocol therapies, patient education strategies, and documentation Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions about ethical considerations and regulatory compliance Interface with various departments including Nursing, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory Support skill-appropriate clinical tasks such as monitoring vitals, assisting with EKGs, and venipuncture under supervision Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and respect for patient confidentiality Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience Required: Currently enrolled in a College of Nursing program and have completed the first year of coursework Skills & Abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email communication Basic math skills, including algebra and geometry Ability to draw valid conclusions from data and research findings Why West Cancer Center is a Great Place to Work Meaningful Impact: Play a direct role in supporting patients through one of the most challenging times of their lives.
