Kogan & DiSalvo is one of Florida’s top personal injury firms, known for strong advocacy, rapid growth, and a culture that values integrity, accountability, and teamwork. Over the last four years, the firm has grown from 25–30 employees to nearly 100 across multiple Florida offices, with plans for expansion.
The firm operates with clear expectations, a strong commitment to client service, and a deep respect for culture.
Kogan & DiSalvo is seeking a Human Resources Director who can own and stabilize the HR function across a growing, multi-office law firm. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can bring order, consistency, and professionalism to a busy organization with approximately 100 team members, multiple practice areas, and active office locations across Florida.
This HR professional will bring humility, steady confidence, operational discipline, and strengthen culture.
What you’ll do
HR Operations
Lead HR operations across a growing, multi-office law firm
Manage employee relations with professionalism, discretion, calm, and sound judgment
Lead investigations, grievances, conflict resolution, and sensitive personnel matters
Oversee corrective action and disciplinary processes with consistency and documentation
Maintain state and federal compliance across all employee files, policies, and HR processes
Update, maintain, and refine the employee handbook and core HR documentation
Help stabilize HR after a period without consistent senior HR leadership
Reduce noise, simplify issues, and prevent unnecessary escalation
Serve as a trusted HR partner to leadership while maintaining appropriate boundaries with staff
Recruiting
Oversee recruiting operations and ensure hiring activity stays organized, timely, and accountable
Partner with the HR Assistant, hiring managers, and leadership to maintain quality candidate pipelines
Ensure job postings, screening calls, interview coordination, candidate notes, background checks, reference checks, and offer letter workflows are moving efficiently
Provide direction to the HR Assistant on role requirements, posting updates, candidate flow, and hiring priorities
Support hiring for receptionists, intake specialists, paralegals, legal assistants, PI support roles, administrative roles, and other firm needs
Improve recruiting workflows, documentation, and consistency as the firm grows
Note: The HR Assistant currently handles much of the day-to-day recruiting execution, including posting jobs, managing candidate funnels, conducting initial screening calls, coordinating offer letters, and running background and reference checks. The Director owns oversight, quality control, accountability, and process improvement.
Benefits Management
Oversee benefits enrollment, renewals, removals, and employee questions
Manage open enrollment and work closely with the firm’s broker and benefits vendors
Support benefit-related payroll coordination as needed
Help improve visibility, organization, and administration of 401(k), profit sharing, and related benefits processes
Payroll Coordination
Coordinate with the HR Assistant, Accounting, and leadership on payroll-related items as needed
Support payroll accuracy, documentation, and compliance where HR input is required
Assist with benefits-related payroll questions, reimbursements, bonuses, and one-off payroll exceptions when appropriate
Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment around sensitive compensation information
Note: This role is not intended to fully process or own payroll end-to-end. The HR Assistant handles many routine payroll tasks, and Accounting will remain involved in financial oversight. The Director’s role is coordination, accuracy, compliance, and support where HR expertise is needed.
Onboarding + Training
Improve onboarding consistency across all active office locations
Ensure new hires receive a structured, professional, and consistent onboarding experience regardless of location
Organize existing SOPs, training documents, videos, emails, and role-specific materials into a clearer structure
Build and improve onboarding and training pathways within Paylocity
Coordinate with managers to ensure training plans are executed consistently
Help centralize scattered training materials and create repeatable systems for future hires
Strengthen onboarding, training, and employee development infrastructure as the firm scales
Performance Management + HR Infrastructure
Implement a more structured performance management system
Build timelines and workflows for annual reviews, quarterly check-ins, and employee feedback processes
Move performance management workflows into Paylocity where appropriate
Ensure employee data and documentation are accurate, complete, and centralized
Partner with leadership to improve KPIs, role accountability, employee reviews, and development processes
Help build scalable HR infrastructure for the firm’s next stage of growth
Culture Leadership
Serve as a visible culture leader across multiple offices
Reinforce a professional, respectful, and drama-free environment
Help managers communicate clearly and handle employee issues appropriately
Support internal events, celebrations, morale initiatives, and team-building activities
Be a calming, stabilizing presence for both leadership and staff
Protect the culture by bringing people together, not dividing them
