At Blue Robotics, we enable the field of marine robotics with affordable components and systems. What does this really mean? We design technology for use underwater that allows tons of people and organizations to pursue their audacious dreams of exploring and learning about our oceans and waterways. We have a vibrant design team in Victoria, BC with a collaborative spirit that is both humble and bold. We work together to navigate all design steps from the whiteboard to fully tested, volume-manufactured products. We have a growing list of embedded devices and components either in development now or on our immediate roadmap. Some of these devices include: motor controllers, battery management systems, manipulators, cameras, acoustics, and high-bandwidth communications products. We are looking for an embedded development engineer –  a senior designer with a bunch of advanced electronics and firmware experience along with a broad knowledge of adjacent fields. If you: Have an innate desire to create new things with electronics, programmable logic and firmwareNoodle intently over squeezing the most from circuit designs & PCB layoutsApproach problems intuitively from both a high altitude and great depth - sometimes simultaneouslyYearn to leverage and expand your technical chops and knowledgeWillingly wrestle complex systems and designs until they behave and function wellEnjoy collaboration and nurturing junior designersResonate with the spirit of open-source software development then you will likely be a great fit! Your help will allow us to release these products into the wild faster, and into the hands of our users. Will it all be whipped cream and roses? Probably not. Qualifications: An Engineering degree in a related field (EE, Eng Phys, Mechatronics, Software, etc.)Solid foundation in electronic and microelectronic theoryExtensive experience developing bare-metal microcontroller firmwareExperience implementing and thorough understanding of closed-loop control systems and signal processingExperience driving and controlling BLDC-based systemsBroad knowledge of ethernet hardware and firmware stacksDesigned and debugged sophisticated PCBs a plusSpecific hardware and software experience developing for linux-based systems a plusWillingness to dive through multi-thousand page datasheets & manualsDeep, insatiable impulse to understand, and leverage that understanding to create new thingsInnate desire to collaborate, learn, and adapt Benefits: Paid holidaysFour weeks base accrued vacation per year, expandable to eight weeksEducational reimbursement, $1000/yrExtended health and dental coverageRRSP contribution plan with 4% matching after 6 months Paid parental leave Relocation reimbursement Locations: Victoria, Canada
