About this role
Normal Computing | Incredible Opportunities
The Normal Team builds foundational software and hardware that help move technology forward - supporting the semiconductor industry, critical AI infrastructure, and the broader systems that power our world. We work as one team across New York, San Francisco, Copenhagen, Seoul, and London.
Your Role in Our Mission:
We are hiring a Product Engineer (Software Engineer, Full Stack) to build AI-native products and workflows for semiconductor engineers. This role sits at the intersection of product engineering, AI systems, and developer tooling, designing interfaces and workflows that help hardware teams build and verify chips more efficiently.
You’ll work closely with researchers, hardware engineers, product teams, and end users to prototype and ship new product experiences in one of the world’s most technically demanding industries. Previous experience with the semiconductor or hardware industry is valued, but not required.
This is a highly cross-functional role for engineers who enjoy operating across frontend systems, backend infrastructure, APIs, orchestration layers, and product UX. One day may involve interviewing users and identifying workflow bottlenecks, another may involve building production-ready prototypes that combine LLMs, backend systems, and polished interfaces into working tools engineers can immediately use.
We’re looking for engineers who are comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and solving difficult product problems in highly technical environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build product experiences for complex engineering workflows, including visualization systems, diagnostic tooling, AI-assisted interfaces, and collaborative verification workflows.
- Architect interfaces and workflows that make highly technical systems intuitive and usable for hardware and verification engineers.
- Build and prototype AI-assisted product experiences by combining LLMs, backend systems, orchestration layers, and frontend interfaces into production-ready workflows.
- Partner closely with researchers, hardware engineers, and users to translate complex technical requirements into working product features and proof-of-concept systems.
- Own and contribute to APIs, schemas, and backend services that power frontend applications and AI-enabled workflows.
- Work closely with product and engineering leadership to identify product gaps, prototype new ideas quickly, and improve real engineering workflows.
- Drive engineering decisions with strong product intuition, balancing speed, reliability, usability, and technical quality.
- Contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented environment with a high bar for engineering quality, ownership, and continuous learning.
What Makes You A Great Fit:
- 4-7 years of experience building and shipping full stack products, ideally in fast-moving startup or zero-to-one environments.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with deep understanding of modern frontend architecture and how web technologies work.
- Experience building backend systems and APIs in Python or other object-oriented languages, with the ability and desire to contribute across the stack.
- Strong product intuition and passion for user experience, especially in technical or workflow-heavy environments.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with evolving product direction and rapid iteration cycles.
- Reliable, resourceful, and execution-oriented. You deliver on commitments, adapt quickly, and maintain a high standard for quality.
- Experience building AI-powered products, working with LLMs, or collaborating closely with ML teams.
Bonus Points For:
- Meaningful experience working within the semiconductor industry or building software for hardware engineering workflows.
- Experience building developer tools, workflow systems, IDE extensions, or highly technical internal products.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows, orchestration systems, or evaluation tooling.
- Experience with visual design or building polished, user-centric interfaces.
