Role: Senior Software Development Engineer Location: San Jose preferred; open to Bellevue, WA Compensation*: $250,000-$310,000 + benefits Role Description We are seeking an expert Senior Software Development Engineer to join our AR/VR development team. This role focuses on ensuring the precision and quality of immersive display systems through comprehensive testing, calibration, and validation of AR/VR devices. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in optical systems, display technologies, and measurement methodologies. Responsibilities Design and execute comprehensive test protocols for AR/VR headsets and immersive devicesPerform advanced display calibration using colorimeters, spectroradiometers, and photometersValidate stereo camera systems for accurate depth perceptionImplement motion-to-photon latency measurement systems using high-speed cameras and sensorsCreate detailed test procedures, calibration protocols, and validation reports Role Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field5+ years of experience in testing and calibration of optical or display systems5+ years of hands-on experience with AR/VR devices or immersive display technologies Technical Skills (at least 2, ideally 3+) Display Technologies: Proven experience with display calibration using professional equipment (colorimeters, spectroradiometers)Optical Systems: Understanding of lens optics, aberrations, and optical alignment principlesCamera Calibration: Experience with camera intrinsic/extrinsic calibration, stereo vision systemsMeasurement Systems: Proficiency with precision measurement tools and metrology equipmentProgramming: Competency in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for test automation and data analysisLatency Testing: Experience with high-speed measurement systems and timing analysis Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Optical Engineering or related fieldExperience with commercial AR/VR products (Meta Quest, HoloLens, Magic Leap, etc.)Knowledge of international standards (ISO, IEC, CIE) for display and optical testingExperience with real-time graphics and rendering pipelinesBackground in human factors engineering or ergonomicsCertification in metrology or calibration management *Total compensation may vary within this range and is determined by years and level of relevant experience, job-related skills, education, and other factors.
