This expansion includes investment of over A$50 million annually in R&D, a global pipeline exceeding A$2.5 billion, and continuous scaling of production capacity to meet accelerating demand.   The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide. About the role DroneShield is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer or Industrial Designer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. The position will report to the Mechanical Engineering Lead. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and productionizing antennas, working alongside RF Engineers and Electronics Engineers within the Sensors and Effectors Architecture Group. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations  Design and develop mechanical antenna solutions using SolidWorks and PDMDesign and develop antenna test fixtures to assist with verification and validation activitiesSelection and testing of various materials for antenna radomes and elements to accordance with product requirementsCreate fabrication drawings using SolidWorksPerform FEA and thermal simulations using SolidWorks to improve designsWrite up test plans and conduct testing to validate mechanical designsTroubleshoot issues that arise at all stages of the product lifecycleCreate and manage accurate and detailed Bill of Materials as neededManage several projects simultaneously, project timelines and provide daily/weekly updates as neededManage and negotiate with suppliers of components and mechanical parts Qualifications, Experience and Skills  Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or similar fieldExcellent communication skills and the ability to work with other disciplinesGood understanding of mechanical engineering such as stress, deflection, sealing, tolerances, clearances, DFM and willingness to learn as neededCreative problem-solving skillsThe ability to work in a fast-paced, environment and deliver to deadlines under pressureExperience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferredExperience CAD modelling with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM preferredExperience conducting FEA, CFD with SolidWorks preferredExperience working with antennas and RF test equipment is preferredUnderstanding of material selection and their effects on RF is preferred Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
