Boom Supersonic’s mission is to make the world dramatically more accessible through a renaissance in supersonic flight. Boom is developing the Symphony supersonic engine, which powers the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower natural gas turbine for AI. Start the Best Work of Your Career at Boom As a CNC Machinist, you’ll help manufacture precision components for some of the most advanced aerospace systems in the world. You’ll work with modern equipment, tight tolerances, and a team that values craftsmanship and speed. Role Overview Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, and more) to create precision aerospace parts that meet exacting specificationsInterpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and CAD models to determine machining requirementsProgram CNC machines using G-code and M-code, as well as modify existing programs to optimize performanceInspect parts before and after machining using micrometers, calipers, and other precision toolsConduct in-process quality checks to ensure part accuracy and adherence to tolerancesPerform basic machine maintenance and resolve routine equipment issuesTrack production data and support continuous improvement efforts on the shop floorMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area—and contribute to a culture of safety and accountability Ideal Candidate Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or similar automated machining equipmentHigh school diploma or GED required; technical certification in machining preferredSolid understanding of shop math, blueprints, and layout techniquesSkilled in setting up tooling, loading programs, and editing G-code/M-codeFamiliar with SPC methodology and lean manufacturing principlesComfortable working independently and as part of a high-performing teamReliable, detail-oriented, and committed to doing things the right way—every time What Will Set You Apart Experience machining aerospace components or other high-tolerance partsComfortable with tight deadlines and quick-turn production cycles—without compromising qualityFamiliarity with multi-axis CNC machines or custom fixturingTrack record of spotting issues before they become problems—whether in tooling, code, or setupHands-on mindset with a drive to improve processes, not just follow themPride in craftsmanship—you care about precision, presentation, and getting it right the first time Compensation The Base Rate for this position is $40 - $50 per hour. Actual rate will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees.
