What You’ll Get to Do
The Estimator is focused on providing detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner. Regularly work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs and reports to the Estimating Supervisor. This role is perfect for an individual who is organized, a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects, and prioritize workload. A vital member of the Estimating Department, this is an opportunity to build a career with an industry leader. This role will be working on-site in Westbrook, ME.
Job responsibilities include:
Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that the required data is obtained to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. Estimators also work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.
Create stock length cost proposals for customers based on elevation take-offs, using our price book and computer software
Provide detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner. Work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs
Follow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levels
Achieve acceptable sales and margin levels. Monitor actual vs. estimated costs and work with leadership to adjust standards accordingly
Provide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our clients, sales group, and internal personnel
Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence, and other project specific information
What We Are Looking For
Minimum of 3 years prior experience estimating mid-size and larger glazing projects from architectural drawings and specifications
Ability to read, interpret, & understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions
Experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimates of aluminum glazing systems & their applications
Strong understanding of metal systems and other infill options as well as their applications
Strong geometry & math skills
Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision
Must be able to communicate effectively & maintain professional conduct; excellent written & verbal communication skills
