Position Summary The Buyer II is responsible for executing procurement activities in support of both U.S. Government and commercial (non‑government) business at Ohio Ordnance Works. This role follows existing standards to source, purchase, and manage materials, components, and outside services required to support manufacturing, production schedules, and contractual requirements. The Buyer II ensures timely material availability, cost control, supplier performance, and compliance with applicable federal, and industry regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting regulated government programs while also maintaining efficient and responsive procurement for commercial products and internal operations. Key Responsibilities Purchasing & Material Management Execute procurement of raw materials, machined components, assemblies, and outside services for government and non‑government programsReview bills of material (BOMs), drawings, work orders, technical data packages (TDPs), statements of work (SOWs), and contract requirements to ensure purchasing alignmentVerify pricing, delivery dates, specifications, and contractual terms prior to purchase order releaseExpedite critical and long‑lead items to prevent production delaysSupport dual‑source and alternate‑source strategies where applicableAct as the primary liaison between OOW and assigned suppliers Supplier Ownership & Performance Identify, evaluate, and maintain a qualified supplier base capable of supporting both regulated and commercial requirementsCommunicate quality, compliance, delivery, and documentation expectations to suppliersMonitor supplier performance and address delivery delays, nonconformances, and cost issuesSupport supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement initiativesParticipate in supplier onboarding, approval, or disqualification in alignment with company requirements Government & Regulatory Compliance Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable requirements, including but not limited to: FAR and DFARS flow‑down clauses on applicable government purchase ordersITAR and export control regulationsATF regulations and firearms‑related controlsCMMC Requirements  ERP & Transaction Management Create, manage, and close purchase orders within the ERP system (JobBOSS)Track order status, receipts, discrepancies, and invoice issuesMaintain accurate supplier, pricing, and lead‑time dataSupport cost tracking, spend visibility, and reporting for assigned programs Cross‑Functional Coordination Coordinate daily with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Inventory, and ManagementSupport new program launches, engineering changes, and production transitionsCommunicate material risks, shortages, and delivery impacts to management in a timely manner Qualifications Required 3–6 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environmentERP/MRP system experience (JobBOSS preferred)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple priorities independentlyEffective verbal and written communication skills Preferred Associate degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or related fieldExperience supporting regulated or government‑driven procurementWorking knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and contract flow‑down requirementsUnderstanding of ITAR, export controls, and firearms‑related regulationsExperience with DoD, federal, defense, aerospace, or precision manufacturingFamiliarity with CMMC, NIST, or other compliance frameworksAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and material specifications Work Environment Primarily office‑based within a shared purchasing workspaceExtended periods of desk work, computer use, and phone/email communicationOccasional access to production, receiving, or inspection areasAdherence to company safety policies and PPE requirements when entering manufacturing areas Locations: Chardon, OH
