About this role

Alva Energy Inc is looking for a Licensing Engineer to execute licensing activities and regulatory engagement related to power uprates for the U.S. fleet of commercial nuclear power plants. We are a nuclear energy startup developing innovative power uprate solutions for PWR plants. This Licensing Engineer will work with the Alva team to develop regulatory strategies and documents to support utilities in their power uprate license amendment applications. Key Responsibilities - Draft topical reports, license amendment requests and other documents for submittal to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) - Assist in regulatory engagement project planning and management - Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and guidance - Develop and implement regulatory approaches for power uprate projects - Interface with utilities, the NRC, federal and state agencies, and other regulatory stakeholders - Work with engineering teams on regulatory requirements and compliance - Participate in safety analysis efforts and design processes - Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (advanced degree is a plus) - Knowledge of licensing processes, regulatory compliance, and nuclear regulatory frameworks - Experience in technical writing - Project management, organizational, and coordination skills to manage timelines and stakeholder communication effectively - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across multifunctional teams - Experience in nuclear field is highly desirable What We Offer - Opportunity to work on the fastest path to new nuclear capacity in the US - Competitive salary/equity package - Three weeks paid time off, 11 company holidays and 2 weeks of paid sick or family leave - 401k matching, comprehensive health insurance
