Role Overview Beehive Industries is looking for an energetic and driven Principal Engineer, Controls Hardware to specify, develop, integrate, and test gas turbine engine control system sensors, actuators, and accessories. This role will partner with various cross-functional leadership on a daily basis facilitating development and delivery of the overall engine control system. What You'll Do... Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of the hardware for an aviation engine control system.  This includes setting engine control hardware requirements, designing actuators and pumps for the engine control, integrating and iterating with engine software design and analysis, predicting and simulating engine performance or control logic with computer tools and component tests, and formally issuing the hardware design for an engine control systemExperience designing, procuring, and validating electronic engine control (EEC) and full authority digital engine control (FADEC) systems in addition to sensors, fuel systems, lube components, and other auxiliary systems.  Lead software and hardware in the loop simulator design, commissioning and integration testing. Integrate engine performance and control system models into the hardware/software simulator to predict and validate engine performance and operability. Support setting software requirements and designs which enable the engine control hardware to meet requirementsLead engine system or component test programs from a controls hardware perspective.  Set test objectives and limits, instrumentation and test data requirements, and test planning to validate the engine designServe as the engine control hardware subject matter expert as part of a diverse system design team. Ensure the engine meets overall requirements from a design perspective. Coordinate with performance, operability, transient, mechanical and aero engineers to optimize the overall engine control systemLead design reviews and coordinate with other disciplines in design, performance, controls, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials and system analysisProvide timely communications on significant issues or developmentsParticipate in the research and development of technologies and methodologies associated with additive design. Advise on ways to improve product design through the exploitation of additive manufacturingAssure proper documentation of technical data generated consistent with engineering best practices You have... Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or collegeAt least 12+ years of experience in engine control systems  Strong understanding of engine control tools (Matlab, etc.)Electronics design, to include PCB layout and designExperience with electric motorsExperience working on/creating enclosuresExperience with power electronics for Brushless DC (BLDC) motorsPassion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations to further exploit the benefits of additive capabilityStrong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skillsDemonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skillsProven self-starter and quick learner who can work in fast-paced cross-functional teamsThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
