Position Overview
The Environmental Test Technician I supports execution of environmental testing activities including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and acoustic testing. This role operates under general supervision while performing test setup, execution, and documentation. The Technician I is expected to have foundational hands-on experience and the ability to execute standard tests with guidance, while continuing to build technical depth and troubleshooting capability.
The weekend schedule for this role is either Shift 3: Friday through Sunday, 6AM-6PM OR Shift 4: Friday through Sunday, 6PM-6AM.
Key Responsibilities
Perform environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, and related tests with guidance as needed
Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems following established procedures
Execute test plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with attention to detail and accuracy
Assist with test configuration, fixturing, and instrumentation installation
Monitor tests and accurately record data; identify and report anomalies or deviations
Troubleshoot routine test issues and escalate more complex problems as needed
Document test results, observations, and non-conformances in accordance with quality standards
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Support equipment upkeep, basic maintenance, and calibration activities
Collaborate with technicians and engineers to support successful test execution
Maintain organized work areas and test documentation
Qualifications
Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant hands-on technical experience
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to environmental test methods (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic)
Basic familiarity with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test procedures
Foundational troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
Good communication and teamwork skills
Effective time management and task prioritization
Willingness to learn and grow technical capability
Technology Stack
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools
Familiarity with test data systems and documentation tools preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
Ability to follow safety protocols in a manufacturing environment
Ability and flexibility to work extended hours, nights, weekends
