This role serves as a key partner to operations, helping identify risk, implement preventive measures, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. The EHS Specialist will act as both a technical expert and cultural influencer, ensuring safety is integrated into how work is performed—not treated as a separate function. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Safety & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local regulationsMonitor regulatory changes and translate requirements into practical site applicationsMaintain audit readiness and support internal and external inspectionsDevelop, implement, and sustain EHS policies, procedures, and programs Risk Identification & Prevention Proactively identify hazards through routine floor presence, audits, and data analysisLead and support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and (as applicable) Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)Drive initiatives that reduce risk and improve safe work practices across operationsFocus on preventing incidents—not reacting to them Incident Investigation & Corrective Action Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and injuries using structured root cause analysisIdentify system-level gaps and implement sustainable corrective actionsTrack and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions Training & Safety Culture Development Develop and deliver engaging, practical EHS training programsEnsure training translates into understanding and behavioral change—not just completionPromote safety awareness through consistent floor engagement and communicationSupport leadership in reinforcing safety expectations and accountability Operational Partnership & Influence Partner closely with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to integrate EHS into daily operationsProvide coaching, guidance, and constructive challenge to drive safe decision-makingBuild trust with frontline associates and supervisors to strengthen safety ownership  Auditing, Metrics & Continuous Improvement Conduct regular audits and track both leading and lagging safety indicatorsAnalyze trends (near-misses, incidents, observations) to identify improvement opportunitiesSupport continuous improvement initiatives aligned with company safety goals Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, or related field preferredEquivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree2–5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred Physical Demands: Frequent walking, standing, and observation in a manufacturing environmentOccasional lifting up to 50 lbsAbility to access production areas and wear required PPE Work Environment: Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature variation, and industrial conditionsRegular interaction with production and operations personnel Work Schedule: List the work schedule for the position Locations: Zebulon, NC
