Role Title: Sr Project Leader Company Operating Name: Spearhead Timberworks Inc Business Address: 4655 Hwy 3a, Nelson, BC, V1L 6N3 Location of Work: Nelson, British Columbia Reports To: Digital Planning Director Direct Reports: 6 Employment Terms: Full-time, Permanent Language of Work: English FLSA Status: Exempt Date of Last Review: April 2026 Role Overview The Sr Project Leader drives project success from early stages to completion, leading their team through every phase of design assist on multiple and/or complex projects. They excel at engaging team members, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless project delivery through hands-on leadership and strategic management. This role combines technical expertise with strong leadership skills to advance the Digital Planning department's capabilities while mentoring team development and process improvement. With full project autonomy, Sr Project Leaders directly influence business outcomes through effective team management, resource optimization, and innovative problem-solving that maximizes both individual and collective team performance across the complete project lifecycle. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Strategy & Leadership Lead a large design team and manage workloads through effective task delegationLean on Digital Planning Director and Project Strategists as needed for innovative solutions to complex problemsLead communication with internal and external stakeholders (architects, engineers, contractors)Oversee multiple and/or complex projects at a time, managing workloads through clear communication channelsDefine project scope, goals, and deliverablesDevelop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgetsEnsure optimal project efficiency by addressing scope intricacies, coordination interfaces, fabrication processes, and comprehensive installation strategiesProactively identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategiesCreate, refine, and consistently update project timelines, aligned Spearhead and project goals and requirementsNurture strategic relationships to actively generate new project opportunities Modelling & Drafting Stay current with software evolution (Cadwork, etc.) to maintain highest operational standardsDocument and share best practices and SOPs within Digital Planning, including lessons learned from projectsOversee 3D model and shop drawing development, providing mentorship and guidance Contract Support & Procurement Take the lead on estimating and quoting activities, leaning on Project Manager as neededGenerate material take-offs and perform quantity surveyingCollaborate with Project Manager for change order management and contract managementWork closely with Project Manager to ensure timely development of project documentation for estimating and material procurement Communication & Quality Assurance Establish clear communication channels within the team and with stakeholdersManage all external project-specific communicationTrack progress against milestones and maintain quality standardsImplement quality control processes for all digital planning outputsEnsure QA/QC standards are communicated and maintainedInspire confidence in external stakeholders by demonstrating ingenuity, clear communication, and professionalism Mentorship & Training Lead a large team of Sr. Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Project Interns, delivering an annual performance-based review and regular performance check-insOnboard and mentor Project Leaders, Sr Project Coordinators, Project Coordinators, and Project Interns to foster skill developmentLead by example in technical excellence and delivery standardsTake the lead on developing departmental best practices and SOPs Core Competencies Innovation & Problem-Solving - applies creative thinking to solve work challenges by combining traditional methods with new approaches. Demonstrates reliability and proactive communication while seeking opportunities Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes Diploma or bachelor's degree in architecture, project management, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience8+ years of proven industry experience in project management, specifically in fabrication, architecture, or construction Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities Proficiency in Cadwork and architectural modeling software (Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper) Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, organizational, and time-management skillsExperience in strategic planning, risk management, and change managementHigh attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks with a strong graphic sensibilityStrong experience in team leadership, mentorship, and talent development Collaborative and inclusive leadership style, fostering a culture of teamwork and productive communicationProficiency with BIM software and project management toolsHands-on experience in construction (e.g., timber frame, carpentry, steel erection), preferred Schedule and Working Conditions Ability to work 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to FridayAbility to be on-call for urgent project needs outside of regular work hoursAbility to work on-site at Spearhead officesManual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basisAbility to move and carry materials up to 20 lbs on an occasional basisAbility to travel throughout the year to attend conferences and represent Spearhead at industry functions and project sites both domestically and abroad Compensation Pay range estimate is $120-$140K commensurate with experience and qualificationsExtended Health and Dental benefitsWeekly Indemnity InsuranceGroup Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)Annual Incentive Plan eligibility Statement of Inclusion Spearhead is committed to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
