Role Overview
The Project Leader effectively manages project priorities and mentors Sr Project Coordinators through exceptional organizational abilities, clear oversight, and expert CAD skills. They execute projects with minimal supervision by leveraging their core expertise in stakeholder engagement, project planning, and collaborative team leadership. Drawing from significant expertise, they maintain clear communication channels across all project phases while ensuring deliverables meet both technical specifications and client expectations.
With a clear focus on project execution, Project Leaders routinely take over projects from Project Strategists and see them through to completion. Their ability to balance multiple competing priorities while fostering team development makes them an invaluable asset to project success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development
Develop and maintain relationships with project contacts
Project Leadership
Lead a design team and manage workloads through effective task delegationCollaborate with Digital Planning Director and Project Strategists to develop innovative solutions to complex problemsAct as key contact to internal and external stakeholders (architects, engineers, contractors)Support project development by overseeing efficient generation of digital models, scope overviews, schedules, and estimates, leaning on Project Strategists as neededLead regular project meetingsProactively identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategiesDevelop production drawings and coordinate project transfer to fabrication while maintaining overall responsibility for project lifecycle
Modeling & Drafting
Stay current with software evolution (Cadwork, etc.) to maintain highest operational standardsDocument and share best practices and SOPs within Digital Planning, including lessons learned from projectsOversee 3D model and shop drawing development, providing mentorship and guidance
Contract Support & Procurement
Take the lead on estimating and quoting activities with support from Project ManagerGenerate material take-offs and perform quantity surveyingCollaborate with Project Manager for change order management and contract managementWork closely with Project Manager to ensure timely development of project documentation for estimating and material procurement
Communication & Quality Assurance
Establish clear communication channels with teams and stakeholders both internal and externalManage technical communication with external partiesTrack progress against milestones and maintain quality standardsImplement quality control processes for all digital planning outputsEnsure QA/QC standards are communicated and maintainedInspire confidence in external stakeholders by demonstrating ingenuity, clear communication, and professionalism
Mentorship & Training
Onboard and mentor Sr. Project Coordinators and Project Coordinators, delivering an annual performance-based review and regular performance check-insLead by example in technical excellence and delivery standardsContribute to development of departmental best practices and SOPs

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
Diploma or bachelor's degree in architecture, project management, construction management, or related field3+ years Sr. Project Coordinator experience in timber/mass timber fabrication, architecture, or construction, or equivalent experienceDemonstrated leadership and mentoring abilitiesHigh proficiency in Cadwork and architectural modeling software (Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper)Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change managementHigh attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks with a strong graphic sensibilityStrong team-building skills with the ability to mentor and develop project teamsCollaborative and inclusive leadership style, fostering a culture of teamwork and productive communicationProficiency with BIM software and project management toolsHands-on experience in construction (e.g., timber frame, carpentry, steel erection), preferred
Schedule and Working Conditions
Ability to work 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday to FridayAbility to work on-site at Spearhead officesManual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basisAbility to move and carry materials up to 20 lbs on an occasional basis
