We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Configuration Management Engineer to establish and lead the company’s configuration management (CM) framework and engineering process infrastructure. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for building scalable systems, driving configuration discipline, and ensuring product data integrity across a growing Department of Defense (DoD) contractor environment. This individual will serve as the primary Configuration Management authority, responsible for developing and implementing structured processes that support engineering, manufacturing, and program execution. The ideal candidate is a builder and process architect—someone who thrives in ambiguous environments and can design, implement, and scale practical solutions that enable growth and compliance.   Essential Job Functions: Serve as the company’s lead Configuration Management (CM) subject matter expertLead full lifecycle CM activities, including:Configuration identificationChange managementStatus accountingBaseline managementConfiguration audits (FCA/PCA) Develop and maintain CM processes aligned with:EIA-649MIL-HDBK-61AS9100 Establish governance structures that support engineering scalability, production readiness, and regulatory complianceDevelop policies, procedures, work instructions, and training materials to drive adoption Design and implement end-to-end engineering workflows, including:Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECNs)Revision control and release managementPart numbering systems and product baselinesBill of Materials (BOM) governance Build scalable processes that improve efficiency while maintaining traceability and controlDevelop serialized part tracking and traceability methods supporting manufacturing and qualityIdentify and implement automation opportunities within CM and engineering workflows Own administration and optimization of SolidWorks PDM ProfessionalConfigure and maintain:Workflows and lifecycle statesRevision schemes and vault structuresUser permissions and access controls Ensure integrity and traceability of:CAD models and drawingsBOMs and specificationsManufacturing data packagesSoftware and firmware releases Support integration and scalability across PLM, PDM, and ERP systems Facilitate Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Engineering Review Board activitiesCoordinate engineering releases and change implementation across:EngineeringManufacturingQualitySupply ChainProgram Management Ensure all changes are properly evaluated, documented, approved, and implementedReview technical documentation for release readiness and configuration complianceDrive organizational adoption of disciplined configuration and release processes Lead and support:Functional Configuration Audits (FCA)Physical Configuration Audits (PCA) Support AS9100 certification and ongoing compliance initiativesEnsure audit readiness for internal, customer, and regulatory audits (including DoD requirements)Maintain robust data governance practices to support traceability and contractual complianceSupport controlled technical data handling, including export-controlled or classified environments Note:  The duties and responsibilities described on this document are not necessarily a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)7+ years of experience in:Configuration ManagementProduct Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM)Engineering operations or technical data managementExperience within aerospace, defense, robotics, or advanced manufacturing environmentsProven experience building or transforming CM systems and engineering processes Strong hands-on experience with:SolidWorksSolidWorks PDM (Standard or Professional)PLM/PDM systems Deep knowledge of:Engineering change managementConfiguration baselines and revision controlBOM management and product traceabilityAudit and compliance processesExperience leading cross-functional change processes and facilitating CCBs Must be a U.S citizen.   Physical Requirements: Experience as a primary or sole CM leader in a growing organizationExperience supporting AS9100 certification effortsFamiliarity with:Enterprise PLM systemsSoftware configuration management tools (e.g., SVN or similar)ERP/MRP systems and serialized inventory tracking Experience supporting software and firmware configuration managementExperience in high-growth or fast-paced engineering environmentsActive security clearance or ability to obtain one     Reasonable Accommodations  To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
