About the role
We are seeking an experienced and operationally driven General Manager of Construction to lead construction operations across a growing portfolio of projects. This role is responsible for overseeing field execution, operational performance, team leadership, and project delivery across all active construction initiatives.
The General Manager of Construction will play a critical leadership role in driving safety, quality, accountability, scheduling, budgeting, and execution consistency across the organization. This individual will lead and develop field and operational teams, improve systems and workflows, and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to company standards.
The ideal candidate is a proven construction leader with strong operational judgment, deep field experience, and the ability to manage people, process, and performance at scale. This role has significant influence over company operations, field culture, client outcomes, and long-term organizational growth.
What you'll do
Lead construction operations across multiple active projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, budgets, schedules, and quality standardsOversee project execution from preconstruction planning through final closeoutManage, mentor, and develop field leadership teams including superintendents, foremen, and carpentersDrive operational accountability across field teams and project leadershipMonitor project performance, schedules, labor productivity, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure efficient deliveryIdentify operational risks early and implement corrective action strategies to minimize project impactsEnsure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, building codes, and quality standards across all job sitesImprove construction systems, workflows, reporting structures, and field processes to support operational scalability and consistencyPartner with Development, Project Management, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align construction execution with company objectivesSupport workforce planning, hiring, team development, and operational growth initiativesLead subcontractor and vendor performance expectations to ensure quality execution and accountabilityFoster a high-performance culture focused on communication, ownership, safety, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management, field operations, or general contracting with demonstrated success leading large-scale, multi-project portfoliosExperience in multifamily, commercial real estate, and/or affordable housing construction preferredProven leadership experience building, managing, and scaling high-performing construction and field teamsStrong financial acumen including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and operational performance managementDeep understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, scheduling, trade coordination, and field operationsExperience managing multiple concurrent projects while balancing quality, schedule, and budget objectivesStrong understanding of construction regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirementsProficiency with construction management and project tracking software; Buildertrend experience preferredBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferredPMP, OSHA 30, or related certifications preferred
