This position reports to the Hub Manager
Purpose of the role:
Lead and manage the Takealot Delivery Team (TDT) within the Johannesburg Distribution Centre to ensure efficient, safe, and timely delivery operations
Drive team performance to meet operational KPIs, service levels, and quality standards
Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with company policies and health and safety standards.
Your responsibilities can include:
Lead and manage the TDT team to ensure timely and accurate delivery operations at the Johannesburg Distribution Centre.
Allocate daily tasks and optimise team workload to meet delivery targets and SLAs.
Monitor team performance through KPIs and take corrective actions to improve productivity and quality
Coach, develop, and motivate team members to maintain high levels of engagement and performance.
Manage shift planning, attendance, and staffing levels to ensure operational efficiency.
Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within the team
Resolve operational issues, conflicts, and escalations promptly and effectively.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth coordination of delivery and warehouse activities
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and customer satisfaction
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on team performance and operational metrics
Investigate, document, and report on damages, warehouse losses, missing parcels, and other operational discrepancies, ensuring corrective and preventative measures are implemented
Ensure all loss and damage investigations are completed within required timelines and communicated to relevant stakeholders
Consistently meet or exceed daily delivery targets and service level agreements (SLAs).
Maintain high team productivity and quality standards with minimal errors or delays
Effective management of staffing and shift schedules to ensure full operational coverage
A motivated, well-trained, and engaged TDT team driving operational excellence
Compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the team
Timely resolution of operational challenges and escalations to minimize disruptions
Accurate and timely reporting on team performance and key operational metrics
Continuous improvement initiatives successfully implemented, leading to enhanced delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction
Qualifications and experience:
Matric certificate or equivalent
Diploma or qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field preferred but not mandatory
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain, or delivery operations.
At least 1 to 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a distribution or transport environment
Proven track record of managing teams and achieving operational targets
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain, or delivery operations

Knowledge:
Delivery and transport operations processes
Warehouse management systems (WMS) and logistics software
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and compliance
Customer service principles in logistics and delivery
Company policies and disciplinary procedures related to staff management
Abilities:
Motivate and develop a diverse team
Analyse operational data to identify opportunities for improvement
Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Adapt quickly to changing operational demands
Collaborate effectively across teams and departments
Maintain high attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and operational execution
