Job Details  Location Onsite - South Salt Lake or Salt Lake City Schedule & FLSA Full Time, Hourly Shift First Shift 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Reports to VTL Supervisor About the Role As a CNC VTL Machinist at Torus, you'll operate a CNC Vertical Turning Lathe to produce medium sized precision-machined parts for sustainable energy systems. Your craftsmanship directly supports our mission to empower communities to become their own sustainable energy providers, ensuring every component meets the exacting standards required for renewable energy infrastructure. Responsibilities Program, Set up and operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes according to job specificationsRead, interpret, and edit CNC programs (G & M codes) to maximize efficiencyRead engineering drawings and apply geometric tolerancesMonitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments for optimal operationUse precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, etc.) to verify tolerances of .0005" - .005"Determine optimal feeds, speeds, and tooling selections for each jobDesign custom fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts as neededInspect finished products and make quality adjustments to meet production standardsPerform routine machine maintenance to prevent breakdownsMaintain a safe work environment with zero accidents or injuriesCollaborate with team members to meet production goals and customer delivery deadlinesPerform other duties as assigned Required Experience 5+ years of CNC machining experience; VTL experience preferredStrong knowledge of GD&TProficiency in CNC programming with cad software. MasterCam Preferred Proficiency in machine setup, operation, and troubleshootingAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprintsStrong attention to detail with commitment to quality standardsWorking knowledge of machine maintenance proceduresEffective communication and collaboration skillsSelf-motivated with ability to work independently under minimal supervision Preferred Experience Technical certifications or vocational training from machining school You’ll be a great fit at Torus if you’re motivated by building durable systems and taking responsibility for how they perform in the field. Location + Travel The role is hybrid based in our South Salt Lake Headquarters Warehouse and our GigaOne Location, but located in SLC.  Schedule Full-Time, Hourly Compensation $30-$40 (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the  corresponding pay range.) Physical Requirements  Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes and climb ladders.Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.Must report to work with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
