Machine Shop Technician
$28 – $34/hr Centennial, US on-site full time junior 13d ago
About this role
Boom is building Superpower — a next-generation natural gas turbine being developed at a pace and cost point the industry says isn't possible. The parts that go into it have to be right. This role is how that happens at the bench.
What this job is
Machine Shop Technician is a hands-on production support role at the center of a working machine shop. You'll deburr and clean machined parts, do light bench assembly, verify dimensions, prep hardware for outside processes like anodizing and plating, mark and kit parts, and keep the shop organized and functional. You'll support machinists with material handling and fixturing, track consumables before they run out, and perform machine maintenance as part of your regular responsibilities.
You'll also get real exposure to CNC and CMM programming. Not as a future promise — as part of the job. If you want to grow toward machining or programming, this shop will give you that path. If you don't pursue it, that's a signal too.
This is not a role where you do the same task in the same order every day. Parts change, priorities shift, and the shop needs someone who figures out what needs to happen next without being told.
What you'll do
Deburr, edge-break, and clean machined parts using hand tools, files, abrasives, and shop wash equipmentPerform basic dimensional verification using calipers, micrometers, and gauges before parts move to the next operationLight bench assembly and fitting — pressing bearings, installing inserts, fitting mating partsMask and prep parts for outside processes including anodizing, plating, and powder coatMark parts using laser, electrochemical etching, engraving, stamping, or labeling per drawing requirementsBag, tag, and kit hardware so engineers and machinists can find what they needMaintain machine tools — perform scheduled maintenance tasks and flag issues before they become downtimeSupport CNC and CMM programming as skills developOperate a forklift to move material, tooling, and work-in-progress around the shopTrack consumables and supplies and flag when stock needs replenishmentMaintain 5S discipline in your work area and contribute to shared spaces
You probably have
Hands-on experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environmentComfort with hand measurement tools — calipers, micrometers, gaugesFamiliarity with deburring, part cleaning, and prep for outside processesForklift certification or willingness to get certifiedEnough experience in a structured shop to know what you don't want
You'll thrive here if
You find work without being directed. You finish a task and immediately see the next one.You treat every part the same whether or not someone is watching. You say something when a part doesn't look right, stock is running low, or a machine sounds different than it did yesterday. You're genuinely interested in CNC, CMM, or machining — not just willing to learn them if asked, but actually curious about how they work. You've worked somewhere that didn't give you room to grow and you're done with it.
Boom is building something that hasn't been built before. The people on the shop floor are part of that.
Compensation
The Base Hourly Range for this position is $28 - $34. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
