Position Overview
The Patient Scheduling Coordinator II is responsible for managing patient scheduling functions, including registration, referral processing, insurance verification, and pre-certification activities. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient clinic operations and positive patient experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients and their representatives professionally and courteously
Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
Schedule appointments for office visits, labs, radiology tests, injections, and chemotherapy/infusion
Coordinate new internal referrals and manage all relevant appointment types
Handle patient no-shows and process clinic discharges as necessary
Maintain accurate scheduling templates and optimize provider schedules
Respond to incoming phone calls and emails related to scheduling inquiries
Send out appointment reminders and rescheduling notices
Report scheduling or workflow issues to leadership promptly
Provide general administrative assistance and patient support
Cross-train with other team members to promote departmental efficiency
Ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards
Participate in staff meetings and assist in onboarding new employees
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
At least 6 months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Effective multitasking and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
