Product Development Specialist
Position Summary
The Technical Project Coordinator supports the development, coordination, and execution of product and operational projects from concept through production. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers to help ensure projects are completed on schedule and aligned with company objectives.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically curious, and comfortable working in a manufacturing or technical environment. This position is well suited for someone with strong coordination skills, technical aptitude, and experience supporting cross-functional projects.
This role supports Emergency and Commercial lighting product development and sustaining activities.
Core Responsibilities
Coordinate assigned projects from initial concept through production releaseTrack project timelines, deliverables, open items, and risksSupport cross-functional communication between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and vendorsAssist with prototype builds, testing activities, and product evaluationsHelp manage project documentation including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering recordsCoordinate supplier communication regarding quotes, samples, timelines, and production readinessSupport engineering change processes (ECR/ECO) and documentation updatesParticipate in project meetings and provide status updates to stakeholdersAssist with product improvement and cost reduction initiativesHelp ensure products meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirementsSupport manufacturing teams during pilot runs, first article inspections, and production launchesAssist with troubleshooting product or production-related issuesMaintain organized project files and follow-up actions
Qualifications
Education
Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience
2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing, technical, operations, or project coordination environmentExperience supporting cross-functional projects preferredLighting, electrical product, or industrial manufacturing experience is a plus
Required Skills
Strong organizational and project coordination skillsTechnical aptitude and ability to understand product-related informationAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong communication and teamwork skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking toolsDetail-oriented with strong follow-throughAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
Experience working with product documentation, drawings, or BOMsFamiliarity with ERP systems or manufacturing databasesExposure to CAD drawings or technical specificationsExperience working with suppliers or manufacturing teamsUnderstanding of product development or production processes
Working Conditions
Ability to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 lbsPrimarily office and manufacturing environment
