About the role We are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential and light commercial environments. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety and craftsmanship, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field crews and project teams. The Journeyman Electrician plays a key role in ensuring all electrical work is completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local and national electrical codes. This position also supports apprentices and junior electricians through mentorship and hands-on training. What you'll do Electrical Installation & RepairInstall, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and light commercial propertiesRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagramsInstall wiring, outlets, panels, fixtures, lighting systems, and related electrical equipmentPerform upgrades, remodels, and service work as needed Maintenance & Troubleshooting Inspect electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and necessary repairsTroubleshoot electrical issues including power outages, circuit failures, and faulty wiringUse testing equipment such as multimeters and circuit testers to verify functionality and safetyDocument findings and complete repairs efficiently and accurately Code Compliance & Safety Ensure all work complies with NEC standards and local electrical codesFollow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations at all timesProperly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environmentStay current on code updates, safety standards, and industry best practices Project Coordination Coordinate work activities with team members, contractors, and other trades on job sitesAssist with project planning, scheduling, and material managementCommunicate project progress, changes, and potential issues clearly and professionallyParticipate in job site meetings and maintain strong client relationships Training & Team Support Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians through hands-on guidance and instructionPromote high standards of workmanship, productivity, and safety awarenessSupport a collaborative and positive team environment Tools & Equipment Maintain tools, equipment, and company property in safe working conditionEnsure proper storage, organization, and care of electrical tools and testing equipment Qualifications Valid City of Buffalo Journeyman Electrician LicenseMinimum 4 years of residential or light commercial electrical experienceStrong knowledge of NEC and local electrical codesProficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagramsAbility to work independently and as part of a field crewComfortable working outdoors and in varying field conditionsStrong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skillsCommitment to craftsmanship, safety, sustainability, and quality workmanship Preferred Qualifications Experience with energy-efficient lighting systems and electrical upgradesFamiliarity with both high-voltage and low-voltage systemsExperience mentoring apprentices or leading small crewsValid driver’s license and reliable transportation Locations: Buffalo, NY
