CNC Press Brake Operator Location: Newport News, VA Job Type: Full-time | First and Third Shift Available Pay Rate: Starts at $18.00 per hour; higher wages may be offered based on specific skills and experience Job Description:  The CNC Press Brake Operator is a highly skilled professional responsible for programming and operating press brake equipment to accurately bend, form, and shape metal components. This role requires strong experience in sheet metal fabrication, including retrieving and uploading programs through the CNC interface and selecting the proper tool and die sets based on material type and required form. Ideal candidates bring a solid mechanical aptitude, a proven commitment to safety, and a history of producing high-quality, precise work. The position also calls for the ability to troubleshoot setup issues, maintain consistent accuracy, and perform efficiently within a dynamic manufacturing environment.   country: all locations: [Newport News VA] commitment: Contract-To-Hire department: location: Newport News VA team: Qualdoc Staffing Key Responsibilities:: Set up and tear down press brake operations, including program retrieval/upload, tool and die selection, and preparation for light-gauge panel bending Read and interpret engineering drawings, bend charts, and material specifications to ensure accurate and repeatable production Perform quality checks with precision measurement tools and verify machine calibration before and during production runs Troubleshoot forming issues such as spring back, tool wear, and material variations, adjusting processes or tooling as needed Complete routine maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections of tooling, dies, and machine components Maintain production records, including material usage, part counts, and setup notes Uphold safety standards, maintain an organized work area, and handle tooling and equipment properly Work independently and exercise sound judgment in setup, quality decisions, and workflow management Position requirements: : Minimum 5 Years’ Experience   Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation Material knowledge (i.e. galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless) Proficient in precision measurements (calipers, micrometers) Acute mechanical problem solving Proficient in mathematics Able to lift 50-75 lbs., stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist and squatting Able to work in extreme heat and cold environments  Preferred Qualifications:: Graphical interface experience Strong situation awareness Manual press brake experience   Organizational skills  Equipment Operated:: Amada HG1003 ATC Press Brake (100 Metric Ton, 3 Meter) Amada HG1303-M30 Press Brake (143 Ton, 10') Amada HD 1003 ATC Press Brake Amada HDS-8025 NT CNC Press Brake
