We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical OBD Calibration Engineer to support the development of next-generation diagnostics systems in alignment with upcoming EPA 2027 regulations. The ideal candidate is a subject-matter expert in OBD regulatory requirements with a strong background in calibration for product development. This individual will take ownership of key diagnostic functions, collaborate closely with certification teams, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of calibrated datasets. The role requires hands-on testing, data analysis, and a proactive approach to driving technical excellence across multiple OBD monitor systems.
Responsibilities:
Serve as function owner to define and align OBD calibration strategy with the Certification team
Drive development, calibration, and validation of OBD monitors to meet EPA 2027 requirements
Lead calibration work for the following OBD monitors:
Non-Methane Hydrocarbon OBD Monitor
EGR Mass Flow OBD Monitor
SCR Efficiency OBD Monitor
Air System OBD Monitor
Execute PVE (Product Validation & Evaluation) testing and collect high-quality data
Analyze test data and prepare findings for internal review and submission
Support and manage Product Issue Log (PIL) entries related to assigned OBD systems
Ensure timely dataset freeze and release in alignment with program milestones
Participate in function strategy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, calibration, and certification stakeholders
Qualifications:
Expert-level knowledge of OBD regulatory requirements
Proven experience in OBD calibration within product development environments
Strong understanding of emissions systems and diagnostic monitor strategies
Hands-on experience running tests, collecting data, and performing detailed analysis
Ability to translate technical data into actionable insights for internal stakeholders
Experience working in alignment with certification and regulatory teams
Proficiency with calibration and data analysis tools such as:
TargetLink
Vision
Data View
Sakura
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Ability to travel up to 50%
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
