About SGBFF & The Team
The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation works to build a more equal and resilient world. We bring people together through four initiatives: LeanIn.Org, LeanInGirls.Org, OptionB.Org, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program. Through community, research-based content, and programs, we help women and allies build the skills, confidence, and networks they need to reach their full potential.
Lean In was founded by Sheryl Sandberg to inspire and equip women to lead. What began as a bestselling book has grown into the largest community dedicated to advancing women's leadership - more than 150,000 Circles in 183 countries. And the impact is real: women in Circles are nearly twice as likely to be promoted compared to the general population. We also lead Women in the Workplace, the largest study on the state of women in corporate America, which shapes how organizations - and the world - understand where women stand at work.
But progress is still too slow. At the current pace, parity is still nearly 50 years away. And instead of accelerating, corporate commitment is starting to stall. This is where you come in. We're looking for someone who cares deeply about equality and is ready to build what comes next.
Operations is the connective tissue across all our initiatives -- finance, IT, HR, and systems. Our team supports the people and infrastructure that make everything else possible, so our programs can have the greatest impact.
This role sits at the center of that work. We've already begun integrating AI into how we operate, and we're looking for someone to accelerate that momentum.
The Sandberg Goldberg Bernthal Family Foundation is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity without regard to age, race, ethnicity, gender, protected veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion. It’s important to us that people of all identities and backgrounds see themselves represented and included in our work, so we actively encourage people of all identities and experiences to apply.

The Role: This is a builder role – and a rare one. You'll have hands-on ownership of day-to-day operations across finance, IT, HR, and systems — the execution layer that keeps everything running. You’ll report to the SVP of Operations and work directly alongside senior leadership, with real visibility into how a mission-driven organization makes an outsized impact.
The through-line across everything you do: how do we use AI and automation to do this better, faster, and at greater scale? That work is already underway. You’re building on momentum, not starting from scratch.
What You'll Do: AI & Operational Efficiency
Identify opportunities to extend our AI-enabled workflows and design new solutions where gaps exist
Evaluate, pilot, and implement tools that reduce manual work and improve how the team operates
Champion operational innovation and build systems that scale so we’re not solving the same problems twice
IT & Systems
Oversee our managed service provider and coordinate day-to-day IT support
Manage the software stack: renewals, vendor relationships, and license hygiene
Lead software procurement — researching, piloting, and recommending tools
Finance
Support budgeting, expense tracking, and accounts payable
Manage vendor relationships and coordinate contracts and invoicing
HR
Keep the People/HR infrastructure running: onboarding, offboarding, leaves, payroll coordination, benefits, and compliance
Maintain HR systems and data integrity; support hiring as needed
What We're Looking For:
3-8 years of operations, chief of staff, or related experience -- ideally at a startup or early- to mid-stage org
A track record with AI or automation initiatives that created real efficiency
Comfort with financial operations basics: budget tracking, expense management, and reporting
Strong project management instincts and a reliability to close loops
A systems thinker who sees the whole before the parts
A natural generalist, equally comfortable in an HR conversation, a systems audit, and a finance review
Clear, confident communication across different audiences
Nonprofit or mission-driven org experience is a plus, but not required
Why This Role Matters: Operations is what allows our programs to run at their best. In this role, you'll have real ownership over the systems and infrastructure supporting work that touches millions of women and girls -- with room to grow, and a team working toward something that matters.
