DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is currently looking for an Assembly Manager to join their team in Alexandria, Louisiana.
The Assembly Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for full-scale Factory Built Substation (FBS) assembly operations, overseeing multiple levels of team leadership and driving execution across all phases of production. This role is responsible for leading Assembly Team Leads and Assembly Technicians while ensuring manufacturing operations are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
The Assembly Manager serves as a strong manufacturing leader with a visible shop floor presence, combining strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution to drive production performance and accountability. This position plays a critical role in aligning people, processes, and production priorities to support business objectives, operational readiness, and customer commitments.
Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, professional communication, sound decision-making, and the ability to lead through fast-paced operational challenges while maintaining a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and execution excellence. The Assembly Manager is responsible for optimizing production efficiency, labor utilization, workflow coordination, quality compliance, safety performance, and on-time delivery of all FBS units.

RESPONSIBILITIES::
Material & Drawing Readiness
Maintain visibility into material readiness and drawing release milestones for scheduled production work.
Assess potential production schedule impacts resulting from inventory gaps, vendor delays, or incomplete engineering documentation.
Evaluate available inventory within the DTPS ERP (Epicor) System for alternate material solutions when shortages or delays arise, and proactively escalate risks and recovery options to the Supply Chain team.
Coordinate with Supply Chain teams to escalate vendor delivery issues, resolve missing material concerns, and support on-time production execution.
Production Scheduling & Coordination
Develop, maintain, and manage the master production schedule for manufacturing operations.
Coordinate with Project Management regarding project timelines, production schedule changes, customer priorities, and operational needs.
Support Order Acceptance Meetings by providing scheduling input and operational constraints.
Adjust production schedule as needed to address changing priorities, shortages, production delays, or customer commitments.
Communicate production schedule updates and impacts clearly to the Production Teams, Logistics Teams, Project Management, and PSS Leadership.
Cross-Functional Operational Support
Coordinate with Assembly and Welding teams to ensure projects are prepared, prioritized, and sequenced appropriately for production.
Coordinate with Steel Control regarding steel check-in priorities based on production schedules and project demands.
Work closely with Receiving teams to prioritize and expedite critical incoming materials needed for projects quickly approaching production release to prevent operational delays.
Coordinate with the Production Support teams to ensure projects are prepared and sequenced appropriately for production.
Communicate projected production completion schedules and coordinate production status updates with Shipping to support timely customer delivery.
Identify and communicate recurring issues involving internal DTPS teams, vendors, and material flow that could negatively affect upcoming production schedules.
Coordinate with the Systems team to build and refine DTPS ERP (Epicor) dashboards that improve material flow, production visibility, and operational processes.
Production Floor Support
Coordinate resolution of material shortages identified during production by working with the appropriate teams to minimize operational disruptions.
QUALIFICATIONS::
Required
3+ years of experience in production scheduling, manufacturing planning, logistics coordination, inventory and material coordination, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, material management, and production scheduling principles.
Experience coordinating across multiple departments in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead meetings, communicate professionally, and build effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners
Demonstrated ability to hold internal teams and external vendors accountable to schedules, commitments, and operational priorities.
Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to maintain a big-picture focus while reacting quickly to changing production needs.
Self-driven and highly organized with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive resolution with minimal oversight.
Assertive and proactive approach to issue resolution, follow-up, and cross-functional coordination.
Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience considered.
Knowledge of substation manufacturing processes and associated production materials preferred.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement practices.
Familiarity with engineering drawings, BOMs (Bills of Material), and production documentation.
