About this role

Zoox's Advanced Hardware Engineering team is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of sensor technology, networking, and the main compute platform for our vehicles. In this role, you will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team to architect our next generation Compute platforms, both on-vehicle and in-cloud.  You will leverage your industry experience and analytical mindset to ensure Zoox remains at the leading edge of autonomous driving through careful balancing of hardware ranging from off-the-shelf to full-custom silicon. This is a hands-on role that will directly interface with top executives and practitioners alike, and will shape the future of Zoox to ensure our competitive success. Drive teams to consensus in an environment of passionate stakeholders Demonstrate technical ownership and leadership of your program from concept through to fleet deployment Able to support assessment and optimization of our training platforms Qualifications : BS or MS in electrical/computer engineering or equivalent 15+ years of professional work experience Solid electrical engineering fundamentals Deep understanding of optimizing hardware to support AI/ML software Track record of successful complex product delivery Experience in computer system architecture design and optimization Experience managing engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers High-speed motherboard design and architecture Working knowledge of schematic design and PCB layout tool (Altium Designer preferred) Passion for problem-solving (both technical and organizational) Experience with CM, ODM, and JDM models, as well as working with silicon vendors Bonus Qualifications : Experience optimizing cloud (AWS) resources for model training Experience in functional safety/ISO 26262/FMEA Experience taking products through full EMC Experience in automotive/EV/AV/aerospace/space or similar industries Experience in software/automation development Hands-on lab experience, such as soldering, and experience with lab equipment (power supplies, signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer) Familiarity with common industry technologies and protocols, including GPUs, CAN, Ethernet, GNSS, GMSL, NVMe, M.2, PCIe, optical networking, Linux, QNX
