The Top of Funnel team owns the critical first steps of a member’s journey: from registration and authentication to onboarding and provider matching. Your work will directly influence how millions of people access mental healthcare for the first time, and you will bring both growth-oriented experimentation and a commitment to architectural quality and reliability to everything you build.
Please note that this is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, with an expectation to be in the office 2–3 days per week at our 2 Embarcadero Ctr. location. Candidates must be based in the San Francisco metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of their start date. Occasional travel will be required for team on-sites.
What you’ll do:
Design and build scalable, performant front-end features and systems using React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on engineering rigor and maintainability
Drive top-of-funnel member growth initiatives, including A/B experimentation, feature flagging, and conversion optimization, in close partnership with product and growth teams
Own and improve critical member-facing flows-registration, authentication, onboarding, and provider matching-delivering best-in-class user experiences at scale
Harden existing front-end architecture by identifying and resolving technical debt, improving reliability, reducing latency, and elevating overall code quality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams-product, design, data, and backend engineering-to ship high-impact features that improve the top of funnel experience for members seeking care
Provide technical leadership in architectural discussions, code reviews, and front-end system planning, setting a high bar for the team
Advocate for engineering excellence: test coverage, observability, accessibility, performance benchmarking, and documentation
Own technical delivery for complex front-end projects or subsystems, breaking down ambiguous requirements into incremental, shippable units
Champion improvements in developer experience, front-end tooling, and build infrastructure
Participate in an on-call rotation to support system reliability and respond to production issues
Mentor and support the growth of other engineers on the team

Deliver high-impact, high-quality projects on time and with stakeholder satisfaction
Maintain high system reliability and quality through strong testing and scalable design
Drive cross-functional collaboration with product, design, data, or other teams, to align on goals and delivery
Lead by example through strong individual contributions and peer mentorship
Deliver measurable improvements in engineering velocity, scalability, or developer experience
Identify cross-team opportunities and contribute to organizational-level improvement
What you’ll bring:
Deep expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript; demonstrated mastery of the ecosystem including rendering strategies, state management, performance optimization, and component architecture
Proven ability to independently lead delivery of complex front-end projects from design through production
Experience with growth and experimentation frameworks, including A/B testing, feature flags, and analytics instrumentation (e.g., LaunchDarkly, Mixpanel, or similar)
Strong track record of improving existing systems - refactoring for reliability, performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability - not just shipping net-new features
Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams, partnering closely with product and design
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or Sentry
Strong understanding of web performance fundamentals: Core Web Vitals, bundle optimization, lazy loading, and rendering performance
Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams
Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
Nice to have:
Experience with growth initiatives, authentication, registration flows, or member onboarding
Experience working in a healthcare or mental health tech environment
The target base salary range for this position is $207,000 - $233,000, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
