Technical Ex-Founder - London
London, GB on-site full time director Mar 23, 2026
About this role
About Flagright:
Flagright is an AI operating system for financial crime compliance used globally by Fortune 500 companies, large banks, fintechs, and fast growing startups. Flagright enables real-time risk detection, automated investigations, and intelligent decisioning, helping compliance teams operate at their full potential in the fight against financial crime.
We operate as a lean, high-performance team with high individual ownership and direct access to leadership.
Role overview:
Our Product team is at the core of Flagright’s innovation, building solutions that power real-time financial crime prevention. They turn complex customer needs into scalable, high-impact solutions that drive our mission forward.
We are hiring a Technical Ex-Founder to bring startup experience and technical leadership into our product team. You will combine hands-on work with strategic guidance, tackling Flagright’s most critical challenges while working closely with founders, engineers, and customers.
Technical Ex-Founders at Flagright are both strategic and execution-driven. You will focus on solving the hardest problems, improving product and operational excellence, and leveraging your experience to guide teams and accelerate innovation.
People who thrive at Flagright:
- Have been knocked down before and gotten back up
- Are resourceful—they figure things out with whatever tools are available
- Have strong opinions and can defend them
- Learn fast because they're hungry
- Want to work with no-BS people building something important
People who struggle here:
- Need extensive hand-holding
- View high expectations as “unreasonable”
- Actually prioritize work-life balance
- Can’t handle ambiguity or rejection
- Prefer consistent routine over fast-changing priorities
Key responsibilities:
- Lead complex enterprise sales cycles alongside our founding team — running technical discovery, solution design, and proof-of-concept engagements that convert to closed deals
- Act as the primary technical voice in pre-sales: translating customer compliance workflows and infrastructure requirements into winning Flagright architectures
- Own post-sale technical relationships with strategic accounts, driving adoption, surfacing expansion signals, and preventing churn before it becomes visible
- Build and refine our solutions playbooks — demo environments, integration guides, RFP libraries, and ROI frameworks — so the next hire starts with a foundation, not a blank slate
- Partner with Product to close the loop between customer pain and roadmap. You've been in both seats; use that to make the feedback land
- Represent Flagright at key industry events, partner conversations, and prospect executive meetings where technical founder credibility opens doors that a salesperson's cannot
- Identify the hardest unsolved problems in our GTM and customer operations — then fix them, whether that's a process, a tool, or a conversation
Who we are looking for:
- A technical ex-founder who has been through the zero-to-revenue journey — you know how enterprise buyers think, how compliance teams operate, and how to close a deal where trust is the product
- Proven in a solutions engineering, customer success, or technical sales capacity — either formally or in practice as a founder who owned every customer conversation
- Exceptional at translating complexity: you can go deep on API architecture with a CTO and pivot to risk strategy with a Chief Compliance Officer in the same meeting
- A builder of systems, not just relationships — you leave processes, documentation, and playbooks behind, not just institutional memory in your head
- Based in or near London with the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
Preferred experience
- Prior experience in B2B SaaS enterprise sales cycles — familiarity with procurement, security reviews, MSA negotiation, and multi-stakeholder deal dynamics
- Domain fluency in AML, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, or broader financial compliance — enough to speak credibly without preparation
- Engineering or product background (computer science, infrastructure, data, or product design) that lets you get into implementation details with customer technical teams
- Experience navigating data privacy requirements and handling sensitive financial data in customer conversations
- A network in the fintech, neobank, or compliance vendor ecosystem that creates warm pipeline, not just warm introductions
What we offer:
- Product with clear, real-world differentiation
- High-bar environment focused on execution, learning, and continuous improvement
- Get equity from day 1 at a Y Combinator startup
- Work alongside a highly competent, top-tier team, including professionals from Y Combinator, ex AWS, and Palantir
- Enjoy a low-bureaucracy environment, minimal meetings, and an asynchronous communications culture
