Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:
As the Pattern Making Lead, you lead a specialized team of Pattern Makers in the creation of technical and complex patterns from our maker phase through pre-production (approved to counter sample). Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to pattern making ensures that each product you and your team work on meet Arc’teryx design intent, quality, fit, and construction. You demonstrate integrity in your work, lead by example, and provide overall support and coaching to the Pattern Makers.

We are a small, high performing team that works closely with all aspects of product creation. The work we do behind the scenes supports designers and pattern makers to accomplish go-to-market deliverables. You will be part of a focused team of pattern makers, product developers, designers, and a cut and sew team that works on creating innovative product. Our team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.

If you were in the Pattern Making Lead role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for::
Supporting the Manager, Pattern Making and Director, Product Development in building, coaching, and guiding a high performing team of technical Pattern Makers, and owning the day-to-day leadership of the team
Training the team to interpret design intent and overseeing the creation of concept, prototype and base size approved patterns; ensuring that methods and documentation are consistent with known factory methods and processes
Partnering with Product Operations on calendar requirements, ensuring timelines are met throughout the product creation process by managing workloads amongst team members
Acting as a key partner to design in establishing standard fit by product type/category and end-use, and ensuring product size and fit consistency
Oversee the documentation of construction standards and illustrated technical specifications for all product
Reporting regularly on prototype and sample progress to Product Development leadership to ensure product creation deadlines are met
Managing a limited repertoire of complex models as the technical pattern making experts, ensuring Arc’teryx brand standards are consistently met
Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain

Are you our next Pattern Making Lead?:
You have 8+ years’ experience in pattern making, with a minimum of 2 years at a senior level with an emphasis on technical / innovative apparel and equipment, or equivalent additional experience in lieu
You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit
You have the ability to work from pattern blocks or from sketches
You have excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
You have strong leadership skills with an aptitude for coaching teams
You have an extensive knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
You have experience effectively communicating with and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
You are goal-driven with a results-oriented attitude
You have strong prioritization skills
You have strong computer skills in Pattern Making software (Gerber is an asset), Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office
