Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
As a Senior Pattern Maker, you partner with the Design team, from maker phase (concepts) through to pre-production phase (approved to counter sample), creating patterns to design intent which meet Arc’teryx quality, fit and construction standards. You work on our most technical and complex products; you lead by example and provide overall support and mentoring to the Pattern Makers.
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were the Senior Pattern Maker now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing::
Interpreting design intent, created concepts, prototypes, and counter sample patterns, ensuring that methods and documentation are consistent with known factory methods and processes
Partnering with the Design team to establish standard fit by product type, category and end use, ensuring product size and fit consistency
Contributing to the creation and use of the block pattern library
Maintaining computer pattern libraries; ensuring changes are clearly communicated to Product Developers, Graders and Marker Makers
Partnering with Designers and Product Developers to establish and document product construction standards and illustrated technical specifications for all product
Communicating with Designers, Sample Sewers, Product Developers, and factory partners to build strong and effective business relationships
Maintaining accurate pattern lists and templates in Centric
Providing estimates of raw material yields to Product Developers during prototype development
Developing and maintaining accurate sample garment measurement specifications
Reporting on prototype and sample progress to ensure development and product creation deadlines are met
Supporting with the training, development and coaching of all Pattern Makers
Troubleshooting problems to ensure regular maintenance of computer software and equipment
Partnering with the Product Operations team to help identify areas that need improvement or clarity, and supporting changing needs within the product creation process
Collaborating with the Quality Assurance (QA) team throughout the sample concept stage to meet all construction standards testing requirements
Travelling overseas to support with direct and co development prototype handoff; overviewing fit, construction improvements and measurement control for all styles
Participating in organized training programs at various locations; partnering with production leaders on pattern making essentials
Supporting and contributing to CLO3D modeling as required
Supporting with other projects as assigned
Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing, throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain
Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future::
Assisting with technical construction issues at maker’s phase stage and concept sample stage
Maintaining Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs)
Attending refresher classes and building up the curriculum for Patter Maker 2 and Pattern Maker 1 roles; supporting with new hire and internal team training
Strongly contributing to garment construction ideas, insights, and techniques through all sample stages through to direct development
Are you our next Senior Pattern Maker?:
You have 7+ years’ experience as a Pattern Maker
You have an undergraduate degree, or the equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
You have a solid knowledge of Gerber Accumark tools, or the equivalent digital patterning program
You have a solid knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
You have experience patterning technical outdoor products
You have knowledge of grading
You have the ability to work from pattern blocks or from sketches
You have knowledge of garment construction
You have strong organizational and communication skills
You have an excellent attention to detail
You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
You have effective English skills in both verbal and written communications
You have strong interpersonal skills
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
