What we are looking for We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong real-time data experience to join a high-impact project focused on building a modern data platform using Microsoft Fabric. This is a hands-on role where you will play a key part in designing a canonical data model and enabling real-time intelligence, working across both streaming and batch data processing. 📅Start date: ASAP 🖋️Contract type: Contractor 🕘Work hours: 8 am to 5 pm PST 💻Work mode: 100% remote What You’ll Be Doing Lead the design and implementation of a canonical data model to support a modern data platform Design and build real-time data pipelines using Azure Data Explorer (ADX/Eventhouse) and/or Spark structured streaming Support the migration from a legacy Azure SQL data warehouse into a Fabric-based Lakehouse architecture Optimize performance and capacity usage in real-time data environments Build and maintain scalable data pipelines across both streaming and batch workloads Translate legacy SQL-based logic into modern PySpark-based pipelines Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions Mentor and upskill team members, helping reduce silos across data engineering and reporting teams What You Need to Succeed Must-haves 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering Strong hands-on experience with real-time data platforms (Azure Data Explorer / ADX / Eventhouse or similar) Solid experience with KQL (Kusto Query Language) or equivalent real-time query languages Strong experience with data modeling (ERD, normalization/denormalization, analytical models) Hands-on experience with Spark / PySpark, including streaming pipelines Experience working with large-scale data pipelines (batch + streaming) Nice-to-haves Experience with Microsoft Fabric Experience with Lakehouse architectures Experience with Power BI Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Purview) ⭐ Key Notes ⭐ We are looking for candidates with proven real-time data and KQL/ADX experience. Candidates who would need to ramp up on these technologies will not be a fit for this role.
